What a beautiful island which is sadly attracting inaccurate news from the media.
Alykanas features the best restaurant on the island, Cosy Corner, run by Jules and her husband Shortie you can get good old fashioned English food along with Greek dishes and their speciality dishes are amazing! Everything is cooked fresh when you order, even the cakes and desserts are made by Jules' own fair hands. Once we discovered this quaint garden restaurant hidden away from the hustle and bustle we never went anywhere else! Pop down to Scandals bar also once a week Shortie's band, Two Short are not to be missed and you will receive a warm welcome from Sue & Nick, I shall be returning despite the media's attempts to destroy this beautiful Country, you will not receive a warmer welcome anywhere in the world!

We stayed at George and Dawn in Agios Sostis wer we had a great time. The owners are very friendly and helpfull and the food there is simple but great.
The island is both touristic and quiet (if you know the places).
Tip: Rent a scooter and explore the scenery.

In the beautiful coastal region Limanaki (6 kilometres from the city of
Zakynthos) are found the 2 apartments Dora. Being in a tree-clad region by
olive trees and hardly 200 metres from the sunny beach with deep blue
spotless sea and a small port, the apartments are ideal for quiet familial
interruptions. Since they are found in 8 privately owned acres in a quiet
neighbourhood, noise does not exist as well as any other nuisance coming
from other apartments and installations. It is also convenient for small
children, which they will have in their disposal so much and secure space
for games. If you like amusements then in distance of 1,5 km. the big
tourist centre of Tsilivi exists in which you will find many bars/clubs
restaurants, and all kinds of shops (the nearest restaurant and super
market/bakery is found in distance of 300 metres). If you are worshipper of
sea you can enjoy your bathroom in one of most beautiful beaches, which you
can find 200m below. Each apartment is 80sqm and includes, cooker, lounge, 2
bedrooms, hall, bathroom, 2 balconies/verandas, Aircondition (in both bedrooms) big garden with lawn, a lotof trees and a BRQ. Thus in the substance each apartment is a big house
80sqm, capable to entertain comfortably up to 5 individuals. Is also ideal
in order to combine quiet familial interruptions and at the same time in
5minutes you are in the centre of amusement.

Zak's OK

Returned from Zak on 28 July 2004, and it was great-- really! The thing is to avoid the hot spots which are indeed packed with tattooed youf, mostly Brits we'd guess. Zakynthos Town was very good on the Saturday night -- bustly, friendly and fun -- with a good mix of Greeks and tourists and fine entertainment (we watched a pre-Olympic toga'd music drama set to Vangelis-style music) in the main square. The main shopping street has useful cloisters for cool shopping by day. The mountains are surprisingly quiet and remote for such a small island and thank goodness the UK's health-and-safety paranoids haven't got round to posting warnings at every clifftop: one slip and you're doomed, so stay awake there!
Up north there are pleasant boat trips to the blue caves and afterwards, you can all jump in the sea to cool off before returning to Ag Nicolaeus. Great fun. There are restored windmills for rent on a clifftop for EUR19 per night, which I have noted for a long weekend's laptop work some day. Louros Beach hotel is pleasant (with vg poolside snacks) though next to final approach at Zak airport -- but there are not really enough planes to spoil things too much. All in all provided you are mobile and choose your outings carefully Zak's OK. A big bonus are the (huge) turtles, which are now an eco-draw and looked after very well indeed.
