This was our first time we visited the island of Zakynthos. The island itself is very beautyful, so is the sea that surrounds it. We stayed in Laganas, a real party village on this island. Full of life, but also noise. Our room was located right above the main road, and because of the crowds of young, party willing people, it was quite difficult to catch any sleep. But after a few days, we`ve arranged ourselves somehow. Buying ear taps in this case is a very useful thing ;). The local inhabitants are very polite and friendly, you never get the feeling of annoyance when you talk to them. The beach is also beautyful, but I really hated the garbage that the turists throw around. And there is plenty of it, despite the local people clean the village every morning. I somehow feel sorry for them because of this. The famous Caretta-Caretta turtles... I was disappointed, because of 3.000 ones living there, I haven`t seen not even one. But, maybe I wasn`t lucky enough... There is a great bar on the small island on the right side of Laganas beach, it`s a very small island, reachable by foot from a long wooden bridge. It`s carved in rocks, a very pleasant ambient with its own small beach and great music. If you like house music, it`s paradise on earth... The village would be perfect if there weren`t so many rented scooters and cars and if there weren`t so many arrogant tourists that actually spoil a paradise city on a paradise island!

having travelled to many of the Greek islands we return to Zakynthos to see new found friends and unspoilt views.Well worth a visit it caters for youn.old,disabled,familys and the single traveller.Food, drink and company second to none. Beautifull beaches that run for miles with so much to see and do.Zakynthos is such a wonderfull islands whether you want tranquility or the fast life she has all to offer and much more
